The sand is your
greatest friend when
it comes to beach activities!
Forget sandcastles, make a whole town, with a channel running
out to the sea. Try making a lake by digging a hole and filling it up with water.
Try creating a sand sculpture – not as easy as it sounds, try to sculpt a
small person or animal like a tortoise. There won’t be snow so try making
a sandman! Or make a boat or car that children can sit in.
Go on a treasure hunt and look for driftwood, seaweed, interesting
pebbles and shells! Make sure you tell an adult where you are going! Use
them to decorate your sculptures or make a picture on the sand using the items.
See if you can find a pebble or shell with a hole in it that you could turn into a necklace.
Draw a picture on the sand or draw puzzles like noughts and crosses.
Make animal tracks on the sand – try making monster ones!
Make your own mini golf course on the sand. Dig holes in the sand - which can be as large or as small as you want them to be. Place other beach objects as obstacles on the 'fairway' that you will need to avoid, for example, banks of sand, beach buckets, towels, stones.
